Summer Plumbing Tips
You may not realize that your plumbing system gets its best work out in the summer. Swimming pools, garden hoses, sprinklers, and rainwater all play a role.
- Water usage increases during the summer months. Check your appliances and fixtures to be sure they are running properly.
- While you are on vacation, it is always a good idea to turn off the main water valve to avoid any possible ruptures or leaks. You will have peace of mind knowing that you will not come home to any surprises.
- Be careful not to put fibrous materials down your garbage disposal. “Stringy” foods like cornhusks, celery, and banana peels can cause clogs. Avoid dumping excessive grease or oils down the drain. Run warm water at full pressure for 20 seconds before and after to help flush the materials down.
